Just a Coffee
She shivered as she warmed up, curling up on the couch with a blanket. “I’ll make cocoa here in a little bit, just let me warm up some.” She began to peal off her damp layers, till she was in a tank top and panties, and wrapped a blanket around herself.
“All I ask, is that you tell me what you are, by the way.” She stood up and looked at Pi, blanket falling around her left shoulder, revealing her sparrow tattoo that swirled down onto her arm. “You’re welcome to stay as long as you like. Cap’s clothes that he leaves here might fit you.”
“You like hot chocolate, right?” She set about busying herself with setting up cups and filling them with powdered mix.
He stood there shivering and dripping onto the floor, until the dog turned with an oddly exasperated look and left him alone. Finally sure the beast wouldn’t bite him again, he shed his coat and sighed in the blessed warmth of the room as it began to sink into his bones. Ahhhh but this was good! He hadn’t cared for the responsibilities of having a place to call home until it got truly awful outside.
“Love it,” he replied, pondering just how he was going to answer her only real question. Tell you what? That I’m a demon? At best you won’t believe me. At worst you’ll attempt some movie-version exorcism!
But he followed her into the kitchen, anyway. He’d taken enough out of her, really…he owed her the truth. Sitting heavily on a stool, he braced himself for the worst. “What exactly do you want to know?”
“Exactly what I asked. What are you?” She put the kettle on and moved around him to drop the blanket back on the couch. Clad in only her panties and a tanktop over a sports bra, she padded back into the kitchen, filling Raliegh’s bowls with food and water, before hopping onto the counter.
“Look, you can’t be any weirder than the shit that’s been going on here. We’ve had aliens, super soldiers and gods invading lately, and thats not even getting started on the mutants. They have a two fuzzy blue men and a skin changers.” She pointed out.
