She stopped and looked at him, incredulously. “You think I’m like Peggy Carter?” Her heart is pounding in her ears and her grin is about split her face as she drops Tony’s hand and moves in to kiss him, hard and fast.

“Thank you,” she whispered, smiling up at him. “She’s the reason I went to the army. Because if a British woman could do it, so could I.” She takes his hand again and tugs him along, eager to show him what she could do.

“Uh,” Tony replies eloquently, hand twitching from where he would have raised it to pull her closer if she hadn’t completely run him over with the suddenness and if he wasn’t feeling just a little breathless—

really, it’s a good thing she drags him along with her, because he’d just have stood there staring at her, frozen to the spot like an idiot instead.

“I, yeah, I mean, she was a power woman in the military, and everything points towards you being a power woman in the military showing your fellow soldiers where the hammer hangs like she did, believe me, I heard the stories, so it seemed— logical.” He quirks a smile, worrying his lower lip. “You think that was soulmate magic or just a lucky coincidence, because as far as first kisses go, that one was pretty cool—”

She turned to look at him, eyebrow cocked. "Was that your first kiss, Tony?” She asked mildly. They were almost to her hotel, there would time enough for them to tease and talk. Out on the sidewalk like this, she felt exposed and twitchy. She’d rather not have to pull her gun, hung in its shoulder harness under her jacket, in front of Tony.

She chuckles and begins to walk the last block to the hotel, hips swaying as she had the beginnings of a song form in her head. “Coming, pretty boy?” She called.
